Signing of an MOU between KEMSA and Management Science for Health (MSH) 2014

 

 

 

 

  • KEMSA’s government performance contract rating in 2007 was “Poor.” In 2009 it was “Good.” In 2010 it was “Very Good.”
  • Reduced customer order turnaround time by 67% in 2 years from 45 days in 2009 to 15 days in 2011.
  • KEMSA increased throughput by 1000% from 2005 (Kshs. 2 Billion) to 2011 (Kshs. 22 Billion). 
  • Increased customer satisfaction by 7% in 3 years from 67% in 2008 to 74% in 2011.
  • Improved the national customer order fill rate by 35% in 4 years, from 40% in 2007 to 75% in 2011.
  • Increased storage capacity by 32% via a new racking system in the Embakasi central warehouse.
  • Reduced quantity of expired medical commodities from 8% in 2008 to 4 % in 2011.

INTRODUCTION:
The Ministry of Health has the social responsibility of providing quality health care to all Kenyans through a structured health care system. Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) is mandated as a medical logistics provider with the responsibility of supplying quality and affordable essential medical commodities to health facilities in Kenya through an efficient medical supply chain management system.
