Transition of Leadership

KEMSA Board of Directors appointed a new Ag CEO, CPA. Philip Omondi following the lapse of the former CEO’s term late January this year.Mr Philip has been in charge of the organization for the last four months.

CPA. Philip Omondi Odhiambo, holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Moi University, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Major in Accounting) from the United States International University and CPA (K). CPA. Philip is also a registered member of Institute of Certified Professional Accountant of Kenya (ICPAK) and a full member of Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).

He is an accomplished accountant with over 20 years’ experience in senior management position in various organizations including KPMG East Africa where he served as the Senior Regional Finance Manager and Oxford University Press E.A as Regional Financial Controller among others.

CPA. Philip has strong competence in Financial Management, Strategy formulation and deployment, Transformational Leadership and Business Development.

Prior to his appointment as Ag CEO, KEMSA, he was the Director Corporate Services in-charge of Finance, Planning, Human Resource and Administration and ICT for KEMSA a position he served from January 2013 to January 2017. He was instrumental in the implementation of the Human Resource review that resulted into the formation of two new departments; Planning department and Sales & Marketing Division.

He was also the team leader that developed and implemented the KEMSA New Business Model which in two years saw the Authority grow its turnover transforming it into a self-sustaining State Corporation.

Philip has a proven history of building, guiding and retaining high-performance teams to develop and implement strategies for accelerated growth in supply of medical commodities. Together with the KEMSA management team, he strives to optimize operations, reduce costs and improve service delivery while strengthening the bottom-line for provision of quality and affordable health care for all Kenyans.
